Glorious Gardens Sussex works with clients from the first conversation through to a finished garden that feels right for the home, the site and the people who use it. The old site separated this into small pages; here it belongs together as one clear story.

Andrew listens carefully, draws out what a client really wants, and then shapes those ideas into a garden with proportion, colour, movement and atmosphere. The aim is a garden that gives pleasure for years, not just a design that looks good on paper.

Projects can include consultation, design, planting, build support and maintenance planning, depending on what the garden needs.

Glorious Gardens Sussex was formed by Andrew Staib after a lifetime spent working with gardens, plants, colour and landscape.

About Andrew

Andrew Staib, garden designer and artist

Andrew has been absorbed by gardens since childhood. He began with a gardening round at 14, cycling between clients in Sydney, and has carried that practical love of gardens into a long design career.

His approach is personal and attentive. He listens closely, looking for the essence of what a client wants from their outdoor space, then develops a design that can calm, delight and inspire through shape, colour, mood and proportion.

Andrew is also an artist with an interest in photography. That work with colour, composition and form gives his gardens a painterly sensitivity, especially where planting, structure and atmosphere need to work together.

The service can be scaled to the project. Some clients need a focused consultation, some need a one-day design session, and others need a full design package with drawings, materials, planting, build support and aftercare.

One Hour Consultation

A focused conversation to understand the garden, clarify priorities and give practical direction.

One Day Design

A concentrated design day for clients who need a clear route forward without a full design package.

Full Design

A complete process covering survey, analysis, design development, presentation, refinement and implementation support.

How a full garden design comes together

Initial Consultation

An hour together to discuss what you want from the garden and what Andrew can offer.

Professional Survey

Accurate measurements and levels are established so the design has a reliable base.

Site Analysis

The garden is studied carefully, including practical conditions such as soil, light, levels and use.

Draft Meeting

Andrew shares the initial design direction and talks through the developing ideas.

Master Design Presentation

The full design can include CAD drawings, hand drawings, photographs, material samples and a written report.

Adjustments

Changes are discussed and refined so the design feels right before work moves forward.

Quotation

Glorious Gardens can quote to implement the design, or tender the work to suitable contractors.

Garden Build

The garden is built according to the design, with consultation if details need to change on site.

Maintenance

Ongoing maintenance or a written maintenance plan can help the finished garden mature as intended.

Build and Aftercare

A garden should keep growing into the design

The original About Us page was mainly about garden maintenance, and the useful point is worth keeping: a new garden needs care after the build so it matures as intended.

Glorious Gardens can help with the build, quote to implement the whole garden, tender work to contractors, or prepare a maintenance plan. Where suitable, Andrew can also stay involved so the planting, lawns, borders, pruning and seasonal care support the original design rather than drifting away from it.

That continuity matters. A well-designed garden is not finished the day the build ends; it develops over time, and thoughtful aftercare helps it keep its structure, beauty and individual character.

Nature, Woodlands and Sustainability

A wider love of gardens, woodlands and natural systems

Andrew started Glorious Woodlands from a deep love of forests and the wish to help others create or restore woodland. The service can include designing a new woodland on private land or renovating an existing one.

He is also developing independent information around sustainable resources and practices in landscaping through SLIC. This sits naturally alongside the wildlife, woodland and sustainable materials work elsewhere on the site.
