The Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981), contains a list of endangered plants (Schedule 8), which are protected against intentional picking, uprooting, destruction and scale. If the work is lawful then obtaining a license from the relevant authority is needed. For SSSIs (Site of Specific Scientific Interest) in protected areas, unless a statutory nature conservation agency has been consulted, it is forbidden to pick, uproot or remove plants. (TCV)
