A Front Garden Designed for Morning and Evening Light

Our clients wanted a really stunning design for their front garden on Marine Parade.

They wanted to sit out to catch the morning and evening light, so we chose a semi-circular bench that gave them the option of facing both east and west.

Freshly coloured planting lasts all year, including a hedge of Griselinia littoralis and Euonymus 'Emerald 'n' Gold'. It is a pleasure to watch so many people take photos as they walk by.

A Coastal Front Garden With Strong Street Appeal

This Worthing garden makes a front garden feel generous, social and beautifully planted, while still responding to the bright coastal setting.

Seating for Changing Light

The semi-circular bench gives the clients a choice of aspect, allowing the garden to be used in both the morning and evening light.

Planting With All-Year Freshness

Griselinia, Euonymus and colourful planting give the front garden structure and brightness through the seasons, helping it stand out without feeling overcomplicated.

Worthing Gardens and Local History

The old Worthing page gave strong local garden history, especially around market gardens, glasshouses and fruit growing.

Worthing has a strong agricultural background. Its climate and fertile brickearth soil helped develop market gardens and glasshouses, supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to the town from the early nineteenth century.

By the late nineteenth century, Worthing was known for early glasshouse fruit and vegetables sent to London and Brighton. Grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, melons, mushrooms, French beans and potatoes were grown by local nurserymen.

The railway was central to this growth, with special loading facilities for fruit and large quantities leaving Worthing by train. This horticultural history gives the area a particular connection with cultivation, productivity and garden craft.

Garden Design in Worthing: FAQs

A few practical answers for Worthing homeowners considering a new garden design.

Do you design gardens in Worthing and nearby coastal areas?

Yes. Glorious Gardens Sussex works with clients in Worthing and nearby West Sussex coastal areas, creating gardens that suit the home, the site and the way each client wants to live outdoors.

Can you design a front garden with seating and planting?

Yes. Andrew can design front gardens around privacy, aspect, planting, boundaries and practical everyday use, so the space feels welcoming as well as beautiful.

How does the garden design process start?

Can you help with a complete garden redesign?

Yes. Depending on the project, Andrew can provide a full design service covering ideas, layout, planting, materials, detailed drawings and guidance through the build so the finished garden follows the design intent.
