Glades where shrubs are regularly cut back provide a diverse range of habitats which supports mammals as well as a vast variety of other wildlife. Hedges support mammals such as the grey squirrel, hedgehog, house mouse, bats and rabbits. Hedges made up of native species such as blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) , holly (Ilex) and spindle (Euonymus europaeus) are great for mammals. Also, tall grasslands beneath the hedge is another habitat which supports mammals.
