Woodland mammals

Glades where shrubs are regularly cut back provide a diverse range of habitats which supports mammals as well as a vast variety of other wildlife. Hedges support mammals such as the grey squirrel, hedgehog, house mouse, bats and rabbits. Hedges made up of native species such as blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) , holly (Ilex) and spindle (Euonymus europaeus) are great for mammals. Also, tall grasslands beneath the hedge is another habitat which supports mammals. 

Badgers prefer broadleaf trees such as oak (Quercus).

Voles enjoy woodland trees and grasslands, they eat fungi, vegetation, fruit and nuts.

Bats habitat is deciduous woodlands, grasslands and wet grasslands.

Foxes enjoy almost any environment.

Grey squirrels use trees that produce nuts, seeds and berries for them to eat such as hazel (Corylus avellana) and alder (Alnus).
